About us

About Banco.guru: a clear financial guide that doesn't sell products

Banco.guru is an educational outlet that explains money in plain language: how accounts, credit, saving, taxes and financial security work. We give you guides and tools to decide better; the final decision is always yours.

In short

Banco.guru is an educational financial guide. We explain money in plain language, with official sources and free calculators, so you can make informed decisions. We are not a bank and we don’t sell financial products.

Our mission

Why does Banco.guru exist?

A lot of financial information is written to sell. We want the opposite: for you to walk into your bank, credit union or advisor knowing what to ask.

Explain without jargon

Step-by-step guides on budgeting, credit, saving, taxes and security, written for people, not experts.

Give you tools

Free calculators and simulators to test your own case with reference data.

Protect you from fraud

Financial security content to help you recognize scams and verify authorized institutions.

With transparency

What do we do, and what don't we do?

Tap each tab. We believe trust starts with saying clearly where our role ends.

What we do

  • We publish educational content about finance, with an initial focus on Ecuador and Latin America (most of it in Spanish).
  • We cite official sources (superintendencies, central banks, tax authorities) when we talk about rules, rates or data.
  • We offer tools that are free, with reference results, and we explain how they calculate.
  • We correct errors when we detect them or they are reported to us, in line with our editorial policy.

What we don't do

  • We are not a bank, credit union, insurer or brokerage firm.
  • We don't give personalized financial, legal or tax advice.
  • We never ask for passwords, verification codes or card details.
  • We don't publish made-up rates, laws or figures: if there's no verifiable source, we don't publish it.

How we work

  • We choose topics based on people's real questions.
  • We research official sources and link to them.
  • We review sensitive content (money, financial health, security) with stricter criteria.
  • We explain it in detail in our methodology.
Our commitments

What you can expect from every page

Independence

Our educational content doesn’t depend on any financial institution. If there is ever sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled.

Verifiable sources

Rules, rates and data come with their official source. Anything that is an example is labeled as an example.

Clear notices

Every tool result is for reference only: it depends on the country, the institution, taxes and laws.

Reference and educational information. Banco.guru is only a guide: it is not a bank and does not sell financial products. Data, examples and results are for reference only and are not real; they depend on the country, the financial institution, taxes and current laws. Always confirm your case with an authorized financial institution before deciding.
