Banco.guru privacy policy
What data we collect, what we use it for, who we share it with and how to exercise your rights under Ecuador’s LOPDP and rules such as the GDPR.
We collect the minimum data necessary: what you send us by email or through forms, and aggregated technical and usage data to measure and improve the site. We don’t sell your data. The calculators run in your browser. You can exercise your rights by writing to hola@banco.guru.
Who processes your data?
The controller of the personal data collected on this site is Banco.guru (banco.guru). For any privacy questions, write to us at hola@banco.guru.
This policy applies to information collected through banco.guru and its pages.
What data do we collect?
- Data you give us: your name, email address and the content of your message when you write to us at hola@banco.guru, use a contact form or, if enabled, subscribe to the newsletter.
- Technical and usage data: IP address (which may be anonymized or truncated), browser and device type, operating system, language, pages visited, time on site, referring page and interaction events, collected through cookies or similar technologies.
- Calculator data: the values you enter in the tools are processed in your browser to show you the result and are not sent to or stored on our servers.
- Ebook download: currently it’s direct and we don’t ask for any data. If an email address is requested in the future, the form will say so.
We don’t request sensitive data (health, beliefs, biometric data, etc.), bank details or passwords. Banco.guru will never ask you for passwords, PINs or verification codes.
What do we use your data for?
- Answering your questions (basis: your consent when you write to us, and fulfilling your request).
- Measuring and improving the site through aggregated analytics (basis: consent for non-essential cookies, where the law requires it, or legitimate interest).
- Sending the newsletter, only if you subscribe (basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
- Security of the site and abuse prevention (basis: legitimate interest).
- Complying with legal obligations (basis: legal obligation).
We don’t make automated decisions that produce legal effects on you, nor do we build profiles for that purpose.
Cookies, analytics and similar technologies
We use necessary cookies for the site to work and, where applicable, analytics cookies (for example, Google Analytics through Google Site Kit) to understand in aggregate how the site is used. If advertising cookies are added in the future, we will say so and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
You can accept, reject or delete cookies from the consent banner (when available) or from your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works. Details will be in the cookie policy.
Who do we share data with?
We don’t sell or rent your data. We only share it with providers that help us run the site and act as data processors, with appropriate safeguards:
- Web hosting and infrastructure (hosting provider and content delivery network).
- Analytics: Google (Google Analytics / Site Kit).
- Email and, if enabled, the newsletter provider.
- Embedded resources: third-party fonts, icons, accessibility widgets or videos that may receive your IP address when they load.
We may also disclose data to authorities when a law or court order requires it.
International transfers: some providers may process data outside your country (for example, in the United States or the European Union). In those cases we seek to ensure appropriate safeguards under the applicable regulations.
Your rights over your data
Under Ecuador’s Organic Law on Personal Data Protection (LOPDP) and similar rules such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) , where applicable, you have the right to:
- Information about how we process your data.
- Access to your personal data.
- Rectification and updating of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure (deletion) of your data.
- Objection to processing.
- Portability of your data.
- Suspension or restriction of processing.
- Not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise them, write to hola@banco.guru with the subject “Data protection”, stating the right you want to exercise. We may ask you for information to verify your identity. We will reply within the legal deadlines.
If you believe we have not handled your request, you can file a complaint with the competent data protection authority; in Ecuador, the Superintendency of Personal Data Protection, or the supervisory authority in your country.
How long do we keep your data?
- Questions by email or form: for as long as needed to handle them and, afterwards, while liabilities may arise or the law requires it.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics: according to the retention period configured in the analytics tool, in aggregate form.
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures (encrypted connection, restricted access, updates) to protect your data. No system is completely infallible; if a security breach affecting your rights occurred, we would act in accordance with the law.
Minors
Banco.guru is an educational site aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has sent us data, write to us at hola@banco.guru so we can delete it.
