Banco.guru methodology: how we research, explain and calculate
This is how we build every guide and every tool: from the question it answers to the official sources we use, the formulas behind the calculators and how we correct errors. No made-up data.
Every Banco.guru page follows the same process: a real question, official sources, a clear explanation, calculations with standard formulas, strict review and updates. Anything that is an example is labeled as an example, and every result is for reference only.
How do we create each guide and each tool?
Tap each stage to see what we do in it.
We choose the question
Every page starts from a real question: "how much will I pay on a loan?", "what happens if I pay only the minimum?". We aim for a single intent per page so we can answer it well, without beating around the bush.
We start with the short answer and then explain the details.
We research official sources
For rules, rates, indicators or requirements we turn first to official sources: superintendencies, central banks, tax authorities and statistics agencies in each country.
- Ecuador: Superintendency of Banks, SEPS, Central Bank of Ecuador, SRI and INEC.
- Other countries: the relevant regulator or central bank (for example CONDUSEF, SFC, SBS, BCRA or CMF).
We explain in plain language
We write for people, not experts. We define every term, use examples and separate what is universal from what depends on the country.
When a figure changes often (rates, caps, taxes), we say so and point to the current official source.
We calculate with standard formulas
Our tools use well-known financial formulas, and we explain them on each page. For example:
- Loan payment (French amortization system):
C = P·i / (1 − (1+i)^−n) - Compound interest:
FV = PV·(1+i)^n - Real return:
(1+nominal)/(1+inflation) − 1
The rates that come preloaded are examples, not real offers.
We review sensitive content
Money is a subject that affects your life, so we apply strict criteria: no rates, laws or statistics without a source, visible notices on every tool and links to official channels to verify institutions.
The guides in financial security link to the official lists of authorized and unauthorized institutions where they exist.
We update and correct
We review pages when a rule or a relevant figure changes, and we show the last-reviewed date on hubs and tools.
If you find an error, write to us at hola@banco.guru. We explain how in our editorial policy.

Reference and educational information. Banco.guru is only a guide: it is not a bank and does not sell financial products. Data, examples and results are for reference only and are not real; they depend on the country, the financial institution, taxes and current laws. Always confirm your case with an authorized financial institution before deciding.
